THAI PETROLEUM PIPELINE COMPANY HAS EXPANDED ITS OIL PIPELINE, WHICH IS EXPECTED TO BOOST CAPACITOF TO 7.2 BILLION LITRES ANNUALLY

Thai Petroleum Pipeline Co., Ltd. (Thappline) has expanded its oil transmission pipeline capacity of 7,200 million litres for the Mab Ta Pud (มาบตาพุด) – SRIRACHA (ศรีราชา) system. This is in response to the government’s policy of using an oil transmission pipeline.

Minister of Energy, Mr. Viset Choopiban (วิเศษ จูภิบาล), presided over the opening ceremony for oil transmission pipeline today for the Mab Ta Pud–SRIRACHA system, at the Mab Ta Pud Oil Pumping and Distributing Station in the Moung District of RAYONG (ระยอง) province.

Mr. Viset has asserted that the pipeline expansion implies greater benefits for Thailand and the region, because this will support the oil produced by the RAYONG refinery plant and Star Petroleum.

The new pipeline project would also help alleviate the oil transmission from Mab Ta Pud to the Thai gulf and to the oil hub in Bangkok.

The project is expected to save oil transmission costs through land transportation by 25 percent, whereby the reduction for the estimated value of gasoline would amount to 95 billion baht.

The Mab Ta Pud– SRIRACHA pipeline system would be able to cope with any type of gasoline, with a capacity of 7.2 billion litres a year.
