Nobody outside of Japan is contributing more than the USA. Fear mongering will be left to the less intelligent.

OMG here we go again the good old USA, we are the greatest saviours of the world. Why not just simply say the USA is assisting Japan just like other countries and not infer the USA is doing the most and the best. This is not the time to start blowing your own trumpet and waving the US flag yelling look at us look at us. This is about Japan not the USA.

The USA has 38,000 troops on the ground assiting from day one. Fact that is pertinant to the topics of nations assiting. would have said the same if it was China. I was bashing no one nor trumpet blaring..

It's a known fact worldwide that U.S.of A has substantial forces in the area, more than any other nation, The word MORE sticks in the gullet, Little old England as you folks always say, In 20 years time it will be Chinas turn to blow their trumpet, and your sort of best and biggest will have to take a backgroud seat for a while. But Good that you are there. after 60 years Japan should not be marshalled and have vasts amount of Americans around, but in this instance it is a godsend.

Postpone the rescue teams to Japan. Since Japananese authotities, want to sort out problems in their own country first.

Sorry I don't understand.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was more to do with a diplomatic row having broken out over the disgraceful caricature that was published by the Nation (and then quickly withdrawn with a very weak apology) yesterday morning.

As soon as I saw that disgraceful editorial take on this horrific disaster, I suspected that the two countries' Prime Ministers might end up in a brief discussion.

Thai rescue teams. No training, no expertise, no experience, no equipment, not wanted.

Better to fall back on that old Thai failsafe, which is to dish out blankets.

Farcical backtracking.

I didn't see that (I read about a Malaysian one with Ultraman that issued an apology), but I think it's more to do with 50 nations in the world have offered to send rescue teams. They don't need and can't handle thousands of people who can't speak Japanese or even English cluttering up everything. A handful of teams are enough.

Why would anyone want a Thai rescue team?

If your condo building collapsed after a quake in Thailand, and your children were trapped inside, would you have the same attitude ?

The foreign teams that are in Japan are specialist teams, there are only 17 of these ' Heavy Teams" in the world, many other search and rescue teams from those same countries were prepared to fly out but were put on standby, just like the Thai teams and S&R teams from many other nations.

All points taken, but do you know which kind of rescue teams were supposedly on their way to Japan? If the Thai olympic contingents are any indication, it would most likely be the usual quota of 80% sight-seeing officials and 20% actual rescue personnel.

Last thing Japan needs are hordes of photo-op seekers.
