LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) -- A twin-engine plane crashed at Long Beach Airport near Los Angeles on late Wednesday morning, federal officials said.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesman Ian Gregor said the twin-engine Beechcraft King Air plane crashed on departure at Long Beach Airport at 10.30 a.m. local time. "The plane is engulfed in flames," Gregor said. "That's all we know at this time."

It was not immediately clear how many people were on board or if there were casualties, but a Beechcraft King Air plane is capable of carrying up to 15 people depending on its configuration.
