I have been dating a girl for the last 6 months and we're getting along just great. She is fully educated in Business English and studied England language, so she is able to communicate very well. She works full time for a top hotel in Bangkok and worked there for over a year. She is 25 years old. She comes from the North of Thailand in Nan and her background was of low class but has managed to do very well with her career and lifestyle. As for myself, I am a British citizen living in Thailand. I don't have a degree just yet. I am 34 years old. I want to go back to England and work there but also would like to bring her too. And enable her to live and work there. What is the process of bringing a Thai back and what kind of visa would she need. She isn't prepared to get married yet nor wants to get married just to get a visa.

Andy, in all honesty I don't think it it's likely that she would get a visa in the circumstances you describe.

She certainly wouldn't get a visa just to live and work in the UK, if she wasn't married to a UK/EU national. She could feasibly get a student visa to continue her studies, that would allow her to work for a few hours a week whilst continuing her studies, but I suspect that's not what she is looking for.

By the way, I think she is spot on with her view about not wanting to get married just to obtain a visa.

What's her English like and has she ever sat a test?
