Only Cat Evdo Entirely Fubar Tonight?

Featured Replies

Anyone else have problems visiting international sites? Actually even TV is not loading particularly quickly.

Same here , crawling along took me several attempts to post this reply , same for international :angry:

Yeah I can't get a decent route out of Thailand.

No EVE Online for me tonight :(

True just started playing up in BKK too, for me at least. Al sites seemed to be down but not Telegraph.co.uk, weird.

Same here it's big crap can't do anything. Almost every week there is a day/night like this...

East of Chiang Mai 500m from the antenna..

TRUE has problems too. Seems the whole Thai internet to international destinations is broken.

CAT ok now, they had a cable down....according to their help desk...

I had the same, went to bed early, I see another thread with same issues with True.

Seems back to normal to day :)

Up and Down - Up and Down :rolleyes:

CATcrap is dead again. It shows being connected with a full signal but it is NOT working. It's a shame I have to use Dtac EDGE while paying for EVDO.

Must be your location, i`ve just pinged mine at 150ms and 3.64 on a 4 meg connection (speedtest.net)

NEVER have I had speeds like you have. I can only dream about a decent connection. It is working again and below is my speed test;

And one more pathetic test;

Mine has been playing up for a few weeks, CAT told me they are upgrading firmware and it takes 2 - 4 weeks (as if). But good now. If you are using a MC760 modem make sure you get the latest software that allows you to set it to EVDO only.

I have had CAT CDMA with the Novatel Ovation MCA760 since July, 2010. I got this as a backup and to use outside of Chiang Mai. I had AIS Super 3G at the time. My house is about 7 kilometers South of the city.

I could never get much more than 500 kb download. The normal at my house is about 250 to 300.

When I first got the service, I was getting better than 1.5 mbps a few kilometers South of The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Course. That lasted about 1 month. Now, the best I get in that location is about the same as I get near Chiang Mai.

I have been to the CAT office on the Super Highway. They could not get good speed on their own computers with my usb dongle. There was no indication from them that anything was wrong with the modem. I cannot dispute that one way or the other.

Most of the time I was getting 1 or 2 bars on the signal strength in MobilLink 3. Now I am getting (in Chiang Mai) all bars full, yet the speed is still about 300 kbps.

I am perplexed regarding CAT CDMA.

I was getting consistant speeds of 2.7 to 3 mbps with AIS Super 3G. There were some other issues which convinced me to change to a different service in Chiang Mai.

MSPain

After recent issues I had I went into shop in Pantip plaza where I bought my modem, the guy there told me each tower has a 8MB connection which is then shared between all users connected to the tower. I am way out out of CM and very few using the tower I connect to so I can get speeds like above, same guy told me in CM you can only expect speeds >1 MB.

Now CAT EVDO is doing something different. It was really slow and frequently froze. Now there is NO signal at all. It is truly DEAD!

ADDED - At least Dtac EDGE is working well.

My EVDO modem says I have NO signal. Repeated emails have NOT been answered and phone calls not yet returned. TIT!!!!!!!!

Are you using an external antenna? If you are interested I have the add on for google earth that shows where all of there towers are located. If you have a Yagi antenna it may help you to find another tower to point it at, where I am I can get 4 different towers.

Maybe the emails are not arriving 'cause you have no internet?!

:lol:

Joking... you don't really expect them to answer emails now, do you?

How do you suppose I posted on this forum? I stated in one of the above posts that Dtac EDGE is working well.

I have no external antenna. My modem, when it works, says I have five bars which is a full signal. Towers here in the boonies are few and far between. My location is near a village called Puan Phu. That is west of Nong Hin. See private message.
