According to the Jakarta Post, no one was killed after flood waters started entering Agromulyo village after heavy rains earlier in the afternoon. A family of three that was slow to join the evacuation reportedly suffered from burns. Dozens of motorcycles and several livestock animals were also buried in the flood. Merapi is one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes. More than 300 people were killed in a series of eruptions between October and November last year. On Saturday, it was reported that at least 600 people were evacuated to temporary shelters after Indonesian authorities issued a red alert for the Mount Karangetang volcano, located on Siau island. Dozens of active volcanoes in Indonesia are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, known for frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2011-03-21
