Signing Over A House I Bought For My Girlfriend

Recommended Posts

I bought a house last year for the girlfriend and we want to sign it over to my name. We got a great deal on it at the time and it's jumped quiet a bit in value in the last year. i will put the car in her name so if we break up or i die she can have that.

How much will it cost and is it a pain in ass to sign it over to my name, the house that is.

Thanks for any info.

And whats the deal with a will here. I want to make sure she is secure just in case as she has given me so much happiness the last few years.

It must be translated in thai and does it have to be run by the embassey also?

Sorry if the last question is anwser elsewhere i just looked can't find it.

If you are not Thai you can not own land so not sure if you are talking about taking the house without land and putting it in your name or what but I expect it would be more bother than worth if you are happy with her getting your estate anyhow. Any transfer of ownership also entails paying tax.

If you are not planning on marriage I would ask your Embassy for input first and then use a lawyer who is aware of whatever obstacles your home country may have.

You could cheaply secure a 30 year lease on it..

That way you have some additional cover and it saves hassle..

I generally advise farangs to keep everything in thier name but you sound like your in a stable enough relationship and are happy with it being left to her if such an event happens.
