Five bomb blasts leave two dead, eight injured in central Iraq

BAGHDAD, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- Five bomb blasts on Tuesday left at least two people dead and eight more injured in the Iraqi capital city Baghdad, Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.

In the first incident, a bomb planted in a civilian vehicle exploded in Mohammad al-Qasem street near al-Shaab Stadium. The driver of the car, Colonel Youssef Mohammad, was killed in the blast that rocked central Baghdad

In southeastern Baghdad, another explosive device went off near al-Mashan compound. A police vehicle patrol was the target of the attack and a police officer was killed and six others injured, including two civilians.

A store that sells alcoholic drinks was also targeted by a roadside bomb in Oqba bin Nafiaa intersection near the National Theatre. No casualties were reported only two civilians injured and severe damages to the shop.

The latest attack occurred in al-Zaafaraniya region, southeastern Baghdad as two explosive devices were detonated near al-Ali al-Azeem mosque. The blast targeted a police patrol but n o fatal victims were reported.

In addition, two police officers were killed and two others injured by gunmen attacks in three separate incidents in Baghdad. Two civilians were wounded after unidentified men shot at their vehicle in al-Hussieniya region, northeastern Baghdad.

One policeman was shot dead by armed men carrying pistols with silencers near al-Douri restaurant in Palestine street, eastern Baghdad. In the nearby Sadr, a police captain was killed in a similar accident.
