LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) -- Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor died at a hospital in southern California on early Wednesday morning, her publicist said. She was 79.

Publicist Sally Morrison said Taylor died at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on Wednesday as a result of congestive heart failure. She was surrounded by her four children and is survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Taylor had been hospitalized about six weeks ago as a result of the congestive heart failure and had suffered several complications since. Nonetheless, Taylor's condition was believed to have stabilized and doctors hoped she would be able to return home soon.

My tribute to a great actress

An actress and a personality that will be missed. She did a great deal of good work, both in her art and in her charitable endeavors.
