Can anyone help me with the English phonetic Thai for REMISSION ( as in Cancer remission ) Thanks for your help.

at a guess.....

"kooap khoom may hai ra-baat" which translates to "controlled and not spreading"

better wait for the big cheeses of the language section to come in though.

Doc,

Just use the English word. Most doctors here are familiar with the word "remission", which I don't think has a direct translation into Thai.

My small cheesy guess:

Chuang nee mareng pom yoo nai 'remit-shun' - My cancer is currently in remission.

Nice pick up line by the way :o

I would guess at something like "mareng tee kao suu ra-ya roke sa-ngop" มะเร็งที่เข้าสู่ระยะโรคสงบ to say cancer in remission.

Or just saying "hai tae yang mai hai kaat" (หายแต่ยังไม่หายขาด) - cured, but not completly - would probably get the point across too.

มะเร็งเข้าสู่ระยะสงบ

Bambi :o

I'm not sure that there is a direct translation for this word, but some Thai expressions used can be used:

ตอนนี้มะเร็งอยู่ตัว เนื้อร้ายไม่ขยายตัวแล้ว

0r

ตอนนี้ดี อยู่ตัวแล้ว

Good luck....

I like Bambini's expression: มะเร็งเข้าสู่ระยะสงบ

má-reng kâo sòo rá-yá sà̀-ngòp

The cancer has entered the peaceful period.

สู่

is this a word that is used more in written thai than spoken thai.

i dont ever hear it spoken.

"ยินดีต้อนรับเข้าสู่ข่าว ITV"

I hear it every day on the news. I admit that it's not something I hear during everyday life though.
