Sudarat frets about Pheu Thai campaign in Bangkok

The Pheu Thai Party will be at a disadvantage to the Democrat Party during the election in Bangkok, barred Thai Rak Thai executive Sudarat Keyuraphan said yesterday.

"Voting in Bangkok hinges on the prevailing sentiment. Pheu Thai should revive Thai Rak Thai policies in order to compete with the Democrats," she said.

Sudarat said the Democrats claimed Bangkok as their political stronghold, therefore Pheu Thai had to carry out a well-prepared campaign to dislodge the main coalition party.

Thai Rak Thai policies had a proven track record and had great appeal for voters, she said, urging the Pheu Thai campaign to be ready in terms of platforms and candidates.

Should Yingluck Shinawatra, sister of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, run for the premiership, the party would have to form several teams of qualified individuals to back her in order to demonstrate the party's readiness to govern the country, she said.

She said the party must not confuse its campaign activities with those carried out by the red-shirt movement.
