Sheikhan
Im in Chong Nonsi area and im hearing an extreme amount of loud sirens, it cant possibly have anything to do with this can it? Anybody have an idea what is happening? Its got to be something big. It's just a normal fire alarm call. Nothing unusual.. when there is fire, all the BKK units seems to rush in Just more than a week ago there was small fire in Healthland at Soi sathorn 12, there was probably 50 firetrucks rushed there. I live in highrise and no shake from quake here..

Anybody have an idea what is happening? Its got to be something big. Apparently there is a fire, reported to be quite large in a McDonalds store in one of the fashion complexes in Pratuman somewhere near the Amari Watergate hotel. Those places are like rabbit warrens with tons of inflammables, could be worse than the quake.

Lite Beer
Two magnitude 7.0 quakes hit Myanmar: U.S. Geological Survey Two strong quakes of magnitude 7.0 struck northeast Myanmar, close to the Thai and Laotian borders, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on Thursday. It said the quakes struck seconds apart at 8:25 a.m. on Friday (1355 GMT on Thursday) and were centered 69 miles (111 km) north of Chiang Rai in neighboring Thailand. The first one was very shallow, at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km), while the second one was deeper at 142.5 miles (230 km). It could be felt as far away as Bangkok, where buildings swayed. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says it was located too far inland to generate a destructive wave. -- TNA 2011-03-

1weatherman
Didn't feel a thing here in On Nut up 8 floors. Maybe my condo is well constructed and sway proof. I went through a California quake in a control tower and felt that one. Swaying back and forth in a gentle, which I was glad, rocking motion.
