Thai (Issan) Mouth Organ

Featured Replies

There is an older guy who sells them at the Sunday Walking Street Market along with many other musical instruments. He is a musician and knows what he is talking about.

ok....thanks

anyone know where I can find one today!

Have a friend in town today only

Seen them at the Night Bazaar and Baan Tawai. Think they may also have it the "antique" type store on Tae Pae Rd. On the left side coming from the river.

In your shopping foray, you might have a little better luck if you use the Thai/Isaan name: Kaen (pronounced "can") rather than "mouth organ." Also, make sure they're playable, if your friend wants an authentic Kaen. Most you see in tourist/souvenir shops are a facsimile of the instrument, and not necessarily functional. Ask if the clerk is from Isaan, and then make them play it for you! :)
