No, both of us are Malaysian citizens.

My wife has just bought a condo in Bangkok.

We just like to stay there for a year and

in the near future we would like to apply

for Retirement Visa. Both of us are over

60 years of age.

Assuming later we apply for Retirement Visa,

this is a question I would like to ask.

Have we to put in 800,000 Baht for one

and the spouse need not put in that amount ?

Or we have to put in 160,000 Baht for both ?

You kind advice is much appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.

A non-O visa for the two of you is possible. Non-O single will give you 90 day in thailand, extend it in Thailandat immigration for 1 year during the last 30 days. For that the money has to be in a bank account in Thailand for 2 months for the first extension and 3 months every next.

Only one of you needs to show 800,000 in the bank, the other can apply for an extensin of stay as dependend of the other. But be careful. If the person on the extension based on retirement loses the permission to stay, the dependend will automatically lose his/her permission to stay too. Basicly don't leave Thailand wihout a re-entry permit.

Based on the condo and retirement, you could try to get a multiple non-O. Since you are Malaysian, they might be more accomodating to you. But inquire at the embassy first, some embassies will only give a O-A visa if based on retirement. That one requires a police check and medical.
