As far as i am aware, the kids will have to take the money (cash) with them when handing in the application. But someone else on here may know of a different way if it involves children applying.

I'm not too sure, either. Certainly, it has to be in local currency, and, certainly, they accept cash. On the embassy website, it is indicated that they also accept Thai postal orders and cashier's cheques, too. However, to be certain, I'd drop them an e-mail or telephone (if you can get through).

Cheers,

Scouse.

Thank for the replies,

i dropped the embassy an e-mail about 2 wks ago, but no reply, and will do again.

Surely, there must be another method of payment when submitting applications from the uk?

Rather than somebody to haul to the capital to pay, maybe an international cheque/postal order or something.i will ask the post office/bank, not to say the embassy will accept it, but worth a try, also a bell to the embassy in bangkok.

Thanks Scouse, and well done Mr Bojangles,

This is what the Embassy web site says under the drop box visa application procedures. As payment is in Baht suspect it will have to be purchased here in Thailand.

Applications must be accompanied by the correct fee in the form of a cashier’s cheque / bank draft / postal order made payable to the ‘British Embassy Bangkok’. A bank / post office must guarantee payment. We cannot accept personal cheques. We cannot accept cash for drop box applications, and we can only accept one cashier’s cheque / bank draft / postal order per application / family group.

You cannot submit an application from the UK. In fact you cannot submit an application at all!

The drop box would not, I think, be applicable in this circumstance, unless they have had visit visas to the UK or US within the last 2 years. The embassy website is not clear if they will accept postal applications, try phoning again to ask. If not, then they will have to go, with a responsible adult if they are too young to go alone.

Sorry. The reason I mentioned drop box was that it provided the types of payment accepted by the Embassy; and that information was not found anywhere else that I looked. OP should read this LINK

yes you are right, the web site isn't clear of what we require, may be we will have to do "mail around the world in 80 days with the postal order"or send the full file and the fee to somebody from mahasarakham,to make the trip.but i'll keep trying the embassy at the moment, thanks for your idea's.

Good question. When my wife first came to england, when everything was a learning process for her, also me at times.we talked about which direction we would want to go,ie live here or move to thailand, with help of using time to tell.

Also many other factors, like the kids education in thailand at the moment, eldest in

2nd year in tech college and the youngest starting second school, yes they could,

maybe have that here,BUT,now my wife and i don't want a long term future here in the uk.

I led & guided her through the hoops of our systems, now she works for the NHS,and has the true reading for her self, one day she came home and said"i don't want you to grow old here in england"she felt ashamed of the way we treat our elders.Whats new, with everything else you and i know about here, keeping it short.

No where is perfect,we know.so we decided,to keep & educate the kids in thailand

so they are our future,of course with help from the assets & fianance we have.Rather than bring them here, and being treated like the 60's in the usa.

and the risk of not being happy anyway.

We try go back to thailand at least 2 times a year, preparing and planning for the

day we will be living there.4 or 5 years time.

Here, we weigh up of what we have today in england, busting our selfs for this circus, with the clowns in control.i think, i'd rather take a step back and be contented, and feel more comfortable about life. thanks rory

Hiya,

Just to update, Eventually we made contact with the British embassy Bangkok.

They said " Payment can be made from the uk,by a bankers draft/cashiers

cheque in thai baht, made payable to the British embassy.

Please include an additional 200 thb for overseas bank processing charges"

Thanks, and everyone for your input. rory
