'Good' Kids Motorcycle Helmet.

I am looking for a reasonable good fitting motorcycle helmet for a young kid of 4 years old.

What I have found in the likes of Lotus and similar shops are helmets of pretty much the correct size but just doesn't seem to sit correctly, regardless of adjusting the chin strap. See attached for example.

I've also seen some adults driving their motorcycles wearing the helmet the same way, maybe its a design flaw in these cheaper helmets.

Anyway, where to get a better one?

Recently we bought our four year old daughter a full face helmut after putting up with the type you depict for about a year with results as you describe, she just loves it and being full face it does not move around when done up.

Where did you get it from and approximately how much?

Cost was 500 Baht, do not know the name of the shop but it was on the north side of the moat, river side of Chan Puak Road, maybe the first shop along there specializing in helmuts and wet weather gear. Same hat was available in a shop on the south side but the price was 800 Baht. Quality as far as I can tell is not bad although I understand it is no Shoei. If you have trouble let me know and I will swing past in a day or two and get their name.

Most motorcy helmets are too heavy for the neck muscles of young children and can cause as much or more harm in an accident as if the helmet catches the ground it's weight alone being twisted could contribute to a catastrophic neck injury as well, maybe even death..

If not a nice light but well constructed helmet that fits properly with full face like was suggested above then a first rate bicycle helmet is the next best option and will fit and protect much better then the average cheapo available both with impact and with peripheral injuries..

I had thought about a bicycle helmet too, but hadn't looked into it. I have seen some adults going around on motorcycles with the bicycle helmets too.

Is there any decent shops in Pattaya, maybe the one on Thepprasit Road if its still there?

Central and Robinsons are both carrying pretty decent ones now, I don't know about any other shops down there I can recommend don't know the area well enough.. I just saw a nice shop up here in bangkok was a recent extension of Amanporn that specialized in wheeled sports equipment had all range of parts and quads as well as bicycles etc.. Don't know if you have one of those shops there in Pattaya or not?

I,m just curious. Why do you want to drive around with a 3-year old kid on a motorbike?

She's four although I used to take her on my wave when she was three, I have a proper childs seat fitted in the front of me with back rest, she holds the base of the mirrors and is completely comfortable and as safe as it's possible to be on a motor cycle. I neither go too fast nor do I go long distances with her, she loves it as a pleasant change to the car.

What would you suggest to people who only have a motorbike and want to take their 3 year old child from point A to point B where a taxi isn't always an option due to money issues or location.
