Publishing Jobs In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Do any of you guys work in publishing in Thailand?

I have 6 years experience in magazine and book publishing and wondered if there are any big publishing houses or printers in Bangkok?

Also how easy it would be to get a job in publishing...

I work in production so could easily work in a production department or with a printers in the pre-press department or reprographic house.

Can anyone help?

:o

Hi purpleturtle,

Do you speak and/or read Thai?

Regardless of the type or origin (US company subsidiary/outsource?), any publishing company would most certainly require its non-Thai employees (CEO’s on down) to speak, read and write in Thai.

It’s worth noting that the few book stores you’ll find in Thailand, even Bangkok, that have many books in English, are the ones that cater to ‘farang’, and what you’ll find there are imported books and magazines.

You could look into the two major English-language daily newspaper publishers, to see what they can offer you. Look for links to

Bangkok Post (The Post Publishing Plc,) www.bangkokpost.com

http://www.bangkokpost.com/employment/

and

The Nation (Nationgroup) http://www.nationgroup.com/

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/

Good luck. :-)

Purple.....

With your literary background, have you considered English teaching as a profession here?

Thanks for the info - I have no thai language skills so that certainly limits things...

Yeap - distinct possibility for me at the moment as I have an English Language degree too!

Sounds a better bet

Cheers

It was more of a standing Forum joke actually, as we frequently come with aspirations about pursuing our profession, and end up teaching.

My PM to you says more about publishing.
