Bangkok is a perfect example of Thai irresponsibility. Think of all the GHGs that are drifting skyward as tens of thousands of cars sit in endless traffic jams--you can even smell it.

Oh, come on. Have you ever been to Saigon? Shanghai? Bombay? Cairo? Lagos?

Wealthy Nations must pay - well that's most of Europe and North America out of the equation then - Good luck getting any cash out of China, India or the Middle Eastern countries

Thailand: GDP: $ 8,700 (2010 est.)

China:----GDP: $ 7,400 (2010 est.)

India:----- GDP: $ 3,400 (2010 est.)

UAE:------GDP: $40,200 (2010 est.)

USA:------GDP: $47,400 (2010 est.)

UK:--------GDP: $35,100 (2010 est.)

Germany:GDP: $35,900 (2010 est.)

From: https://www.cia.gov/...world-factbook/

Let the dollars roll.........

LaoPo

Thailand has a higher Gross Domestic Product (GDP) than China - Holy Cow!! They must shift a lot of rice and shrimp.

Think those figures are a bit wrong [GDP includes all of private and public consumption, government outlays, investments and exports less imports that occur within a defined territory.]

Thailand GDP $ 263.77 billion

China GDP $5.04 trillion dollars

:jap:

Thailand has 66,720,153* people, whilst

China has 1,336,718,015 (July 2011 est.)* people and only "opened up" their locked doors since 1989.

Thailand's population is therefore a mere 4,99% of China's population

* If you do not agree with the numbers by CIA World Factbook you can always write them...

* all numbers by: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/th.html

Walked past a beggar dressed in rags yesterday outside a shop where the owner's new Mercedes was parked out front.

Have you ever seen some of these "beggars" at the end of their shift, go around the corner and hop into their Fortuner? I have. Maybe not a Benz, but still a pretty decent vehicle.

I wonder, do they pay Income Tax over the gifts they receive ?

Just out of curiosity , where abouts are those cities located in Thailand , maybe we could start doing a ' Dump ' on them as well as Bangkok .

Global Warming?

The new mantra is Climate Change.

Thailand must prove with scientific data without the shadow of a doubt that developed nations affected Thailand.

Thailand must clearly show the extent and nature of those damages and a clear provenance of the detriment.

Said damages, if they are proven and verified, must also be appraised and apportioned.

Other than that, it is the same old song of throwing guilt at the developed countries.

Up until recently, Brazil begged for money and privileges from the USA. Finally, it became apparent that Brazil is energy self sufficient, that is the biggest exporter or beef, coffee, sugar, oranges and it even builds most of the private jets flown all over the world. Nevertheless, President Lula tried guilt on Bush to shake him down for all the damages that we had done to the Brazil.

FYI Thailand is also known internationally as the Asian Detroit.

"The eight topics up for discussion include a global greenhouse gas emissions target, the adaptation committee, alternative options for financial support to reduce greenhouse gases from forests and an extension of the Kyoto Protocol, which expires next year."

I suppose the easy and cheap way to reduce greenhouse gases from forests is to chop down the forests and sell the logs..... and all along I thought it was the forests which helped to absorb greenhouse gases, not produce them...

Still it can't be Thailand's fault - there are hardly any forests left now. And of course it wasn't the Thais who cut down all the trees to make farms, it was the nasty foreigners again.

Haven't seen that, but I have seen the minibus picking up the mother and baby beggars after a shift at Ratchaprasong bridges. The babies appear to be random accessories which they hand in to the gang at shift end. I wonder if the cripple beggar shift is obliged to hand in their artificial limbs after a shift is over.?

The fact of the matter is that the damage previously caused by western economies particularly those of North America and western Europe is finished and in large part healed. The earth can and does recover. Unfortunately, the heavy coal fired pollution from China and the smoke stack industries of India are doing more damage in any given year than than the western countries did in decades. It's all about population densities. When the west was polluting, they had a fraction of the population that india and China had. Who's fault is it that some countries are incapable of controlling their populations and have idiotic economic policies?

It is time that China and India and their cronies took responsibility for their decisions. Better yet, the countries expected to pay for it should say, ok, we'll do it by imposing a carbon tax on all imports from China and India. Watch the Chinese economy collapse.

So wha if China holds US debt. if the USa falls, China will then suffer a catastrophic meltdown as it loses its investments. I ofer that it is the USA that has China by the balls.

Tool true. And all this low-grade plastic trash that's being churned out and spread around the world will require vast amounts more coal being burnt to turn it back into more crap.

"We have been affected by what developed countries have done in the past,"

What a surprise ... says he while omitting to mention the antics of his slash 'n burn brethren chocking the north and surrounding nations year-in, year-out. Suck it up and clean up your own backyard first chaps. :whistling:
