Hi folks

I retired at 58 and have spent the last 7 years back and forth uk thailand, liveing on my saveings . I have a thai wife 5 years and a child 2 years old. Now i am approaching

my state pension age (june ) and have decided to settle full time here in Takhiaentia pattaya As i have found uk both expensive and cold most of the year which doesent go down well with my wife and child. We had a house built 5 year ago and at that time i had a transfer for my uk bank to my thai kasikorn bank and usualy got between

70 * 80 bht for each pound. I was able to wait untill the rate was at its best and send a million bht at a time . Of course those days are long gone  with no sighn of a return. I would like to have my money here instead of in the UK in case anything should happen to me so my wife will be looked after and not have big problems with regards to money . Anybody else found a good way to do this and also is it best to send Thai bht or Gbp and have the bank here change it here .Any sugestions Would be appreciated .Now at least i will have an income

and wont be liveing on my saveings .The cost of liveing here has risen but in uk it through the roof with most of the residents on benifits

of one sort or another .So i am happy to end my days here as i will probably last much longer .sunshine and stress free.

regards pete :D

As you don't appear be be getting any answers. I would suggest you take a look at the Banking section. There have been many posts on this subject. I am sure you will find some good advice there.

Don't mean to appear rude or even cryptic {in which I'm often accused}, but the institutional idea of a retirement has always baffled me.

Not sure what an institutional retirement means but the day I smashed my alarm clock to smithereens cured me of being baffled anymore. Now I'm confused a lot. Does that count?

Yes, confused works. Counts towards most everything.

You are non-resident and therefore you should be earning gross with non tax element. You seem financially naive.
