2 Previous Tourist Visas From Laos - Now What?

Featured Replies

Any advice from members regarding my situation explained below would be greatly appreciated:

I obtained my first Thai Tourist Visa in Laos back in 2008 before landing a two year job with the UN in Bangkok (where I obtained a pretty sweet work permit and visa).

When that position expired last year I obtained another Thai Tourist visa in Laos in September 2010 before leaving for the U.S. in November.

I returned to Thailand in February 2011 with a Thai Tourist visa obtained in Florida and I just obtained a one month extension in Bangkok (scheduled to expire May 6).

----------------

I would like to obtain another 2-month tourist visa and therefore I ask everyone if Laos would be a good option for me considering I've already obtained two in the last three years, especially with the previous one obtained 7 months ago?

What about Penang (I heard they are clamping down on tourist visas), KL, or Phnom Penh?

Thank you all in advance for your feedback,

Jay

You just want a single-entry? and you have 2 within the last 12 months BUT with a visit back to the US .... you MAY be able to get one from Laos.

Current reports now are you could get a double entry TV from Cambodia if you use the services of an agent like Jack Golf etc.

I would try Savannakhet rather than Vientiane if using Laos. Cambodia seems to be the current safe bet.

Thanks guys!

Any word if Cambodia issues multiple entry tourist visas or just single entry?

I am currently on my 5th consecutive Tourist Visa - the last 3 issued by the Thai embassy in Vientiane.

I use one of the local 'agents' that set up shop right outside the embassy. For a fee of 1500 baht paid to them you WILL be guaranteed a single entry tourist visa (60 days & 30 day extension), or for 2000 baht guaranteed a double entry (2x 60 days). They do the paperwork, you sign and you get your passport delivered to your guesthouse the following day with new tourist visa. Saves you having to hang around for hours in the embassy, and coming back the next day.

The visa stamp is all genuine - try Mr Oon, nice & friendly chap, speaks very good English.

I would advise readers to view any "guarantees" with suspicion. No third party can make such a claim.

Phnom Penh issues double entry tourist visas.

You heard right about Penang. Stay away! KL takes two days to process and they only give single entry. If Phnom Penh is now offering double entries, I would strongly advise going there above your other choices.
