North Ride For Japan Charity Ride.

Further details of the Charity ride.

2 Police motorcycles will attend to help with good formation and traffic flow.

2 support vehicles will follow the bikes to assist with any breakdowns and to carry drinks, first aid and other supplies.

The Japanese Consul will attend the event at the Honda shop from around 6pm and will receive donations raised.

Riders will be asked to register and pay 300 Baht to attend the event. This will be donated in full as well as any voluntary contributions to the Japanese Consul. All running expenses have been covered by donations by the organisers, and other sponsors mentioned in this post.

All riders will receive a gift pack including a T shirt (Thankyou to Nut Honda for these) and stickers to commemorate the event. Morning and evening food and drinks will be free, (provided again by Honda and local restaurants). Drinks will be provided free at the morning stop in Lampang. Lunch and any later stops will be at the cost of the riders.

Please do free up your diaries and join us to make this a great day out and a memorable evening. Please also invite any friends or others who may not see this posting on GT-Rider

The purpose is to raise funds to be directed to the Japanese earthquake and Tsunami disaster and of course to enjoy the company of other riders on some good roads.

We are expecting in excess of 50 bikes, all are invited, this will definately not be an event for racing, as safety has to be paramount.

Any enquires to Khun Tum (English and Thai) 0845 044109 or John Gooding (English and a little German and even less French) 0818825122

Would be very interested depending on how the weekend develops. I assume we just turn up, no notice needed?

I mapped an approximation of the route out on Google based on the OP, appears to be approximately 300km.

sorry - i don't think i can attend as i might get thrown in jail by the bib for not having the correct papers\visa for doing charitable "WORK" in Chiang Mai.:whistling:

kcore

But you are not working, you are paying 300B for the privelage, therefore you are a customer (??)

Reckon I might light the fire in the boiler and see if there is enough steam pressure to move the old clunker by Sunday.

Thanks for posting this info - I'll mention it to my husband. He doesn't have a bike, but he can hire on for the day. Bit of fun for him, a break in the routine and all for a good cause. Good on who-ever organised it.

Yes - I was little quick with the trigger finger and after reading whole post I realized my error. Hopefully you saw the the lighter side of my post though. Personally, it sounds like a wonderful event and if I had my softie over here would join in the fun as I did for the City Life tsunami(sp) relief party a few weeks ago...

Happy riddin to all.....

kcore, I am afraid tis a sad world when that has to be considered and I put the question marks in case some one was going to tell me I was wrong but I figure if the Japanese consol is there then it might be a bad decision for anyone trying to prevent it. The weather forecast is good so hopefully it will be a good ride.

How many kilometers is the actual ride please?

Need reading glasses .They already said 300 klm .A bit too much for an easy days riding i think .

300 Km isn't that far really. convert it into miles if you like, 186.4 doesn't sound as much lol. There are stops along the way by the sound of things so it shouldn't be too bad. If I can do it on my bike then I'm sure people on bigger bikes will have no problems at all and the roads are fairly easy on the route by the looks

Thanks to all those who attended to make for a very enjoyable event today. The weather looked very poor this morning but by the time everyone had arrived the sun was shining. The day proceded in typical Thai time (i.e. late) lol. But save for one minor incident on the way to Lampang everyone completed the journey without accidents.
Big thanks to Nat Honda who provided food and beverages before setting off and upon return.
I had no part in organizing this event but have to say that I don't think it could have been better planned. The route was good for all types of bike or scooter (many PCX's were present from CM PCX club) and the Tourist police who marshalled the event were extremely friendly and efficient.
A big well done to those who made the event happen and I can't wait for another one!

A combination of the rain and no water (meaning no shower) meant returning to bed looked like a better option. By 11am, with the sun out, I was wishing I'd gone for the 'shower in the rain' option. Hope all had a good ride, any photos?

It was a poor showing at 08:30 ish I must admit. There's supposed to be a facebook page that's going to be made to show all the photo's which will be named "north ride for japan".

There were many people with cameras, as you can imagine, so i would expect some good pictures to have come from the ride.

As soon as it's online I will post here to advise.
