Hi, My Thai GF and I are about to put in for our3rd UKTV, previous 2 both being refused, having now addressed all the embassy's issues, and having a good chance of securing this one, we wanted to know how long to request to stay. My predicament is this; i was told that we should not steer away from the length of time we requested on the 1st visa, as they would just say no, becouse we are only shortening the time in order to increase our chances of securing it. Mistakenly on the 1st visa we requested 6 months, and so we asked for same on the second too. However now, we only want a 2 week stay to be granted "which ties in with my GF starting her uni course, and also the uni documentation we are supplying". So should we just apply for 2 weeks, or stick with the 6 month, but supply an explanation within my letter only needing 2 weeks? I would appreciatte any help at all, thanks in advance, Andy .

You should state the truth; if the intention is to stay for just two weeks then that is what you should say; although the minimum length of a UK visit visa is 6 months.

So for How long do you want your visa to be valid for? tick the 6 month box. For How long do you intend to stay in the UK? put 2 weeks.

If you're concerned about this being different to what was said on previous applications, then simply explain why it is different. Provide evidence of her university course and when it starts as this will confirm your explanation and give her a reason to return.

I'm moving this to Visas and migration to other countries.
