Hi what are your thoughts on business bags?

Those black laptop bags lookalike seem to fade quickly as well as look cheap.

Ive checked brands such as hushpuppies around 1500baht and guy lauriel? some stuff 15000 baht.

The one on the street is like 200baht, looks and functions same as Twanee brand or some high end laptop bags, but got some silly logo on it most of the time. I've seen some well dressed foreign dude, inc the watch seems at least 10k, but he seems to be carrying this squashed, dirty, laptop like bag, totally making him look cheapo. Also these bags are hard to clean yes?

Ive checked pants as well, big c got those business pants for 199 baht where stiches are visible on the ankle cuff, ive checked at the dept store, some prolly expensive brand which got the same visible stitches, probably the same manufacturer???? but the price is 1500 or 3500 i tink.

so geared with expensive stuff is whats its all about in the globalized business????

and how about shoes? it makes me feel so depressed when some dude steps on it or i step on dog poo or mud splashes on me pants as well.

700 baht bata shoes looks smoochy. all the thai managers choice is bata shoes right? its also good to know that i getting a new pair would be costly, unless ur getting some crap like ecco shoes which is like 5k...?

They haven't used lead-based paint for ages.

As for laptop bags.. When I get a new laptop it tends to come with one.

But in truth I think *ANY* bag makes you look sad and cheap. Makes you look like you have to work.

The one look I envy is shorts and flip flops.

And no bag, other than perhaps one from 7-Eleven.

If you have so much shit to carry around with you that you need a bag for it then you're doing it wrong. Go back to the West, make money, then come back when you can afford to live on flip flops.

Yeah, not since you and Gravion were kids.

A man after my own heart.

I keep myself clean but that's all. My cotton shirts and shorts go to the laundry but I've never tried to look like a "cool dude". I look for function, not style. But, my "tools" are always the most expensive I can buy. By tools I"m talking about computers, fishing tackle and cameras. I want the best because it doesn't let me down.

Not so. Gravion is just a young guy who sends messages off his cell phone and likes to pull the tails of us old farts. :)

HIs head is in an entirely different world than ours.

Why would I give a shit about what strangers think? What are they going to do? Look at me funny?

If I'm walking into an important business meeting, then it's a different story, and obviously I make sure to look good. Other than that, I could care less. And if you do, you have some insecurity issues.

people shouldn't feel too bad. if they washed their clothes once that week they were already scoring tons of points on the majority of others.

Kinda wavering, aren't ya? Either you give a <deleted> or you don't......withholding throwing your stern principles to the wind as it applies sucking up to your important business matters. Cop out.

Not really a cop out. Looking presentable in a business meeting can mean baht in your pocket. Looking presentable at the local Tesco Lotus has very little, if any realized value other than perhaps a personal one.

The clothes make the man they say.

As does his real estate and investments portfolio if he prefers t-shirts and jeans.

Miss Boop is one of the sexiest creatures on earth. I have been in love with her since before puberty. Let me know when you are finished with her! :D

Ah, the new month and the TV fascionists are out again. I guess it'll soon be time for one of those "You've been in Thailand too long when....." threads. B)

I have no idea what a "business bag" is nor do I care. When I go to work I carry my laptop in the bag that came with the computer. The rest of the time, unless it's a rare occurrence when I've been shopping, if it don't fit in my pockets it don't go with me. I don't care if I look cheap, it's a good camoflage to avoid the pan handlers and other riff raff. ;)

The only problem is the shoe shiners, they even want to shine a brand new, first time worn, pair of shoes as I found yesterday. :D

You touched on another topic, Phil. I have my expensive Nikon SLR in a cheap, cloth bag that is rather tatty, I line the bottom with rolls of toilet paper as a shock protector (they also come in handy at bus stops with no TP). When I carry the bag over my shoulder I never get hassled by the tuk tuk drivers because I look like one of the poor expats living on a shoe string.. But, the moment I hang the Nikon around my neck they come at me in droves. It is kinda funny and I keep having to wave them away. The camera has the same affect on the East Indian tailors.

I would advise spending the money and get a decent bag.

I bought this bag from Louis Vuitton 3 years ago and it's still as good as new. It's the Apache from the Utah leather collection.

I would advise checking out the LV website and seeing the detail on it. It's just the right size for anything you want to carry, documents, standard size laptop /w charger, cards, with plenty of extra compartments.

It lasts forever and it says class, without being all in your face about the fact that it's a $3000 bag. Chances are in the business meeting, men will look at it and think "Nice quality briefcase" Women will probably be more impressed because they know the brand and look at you with a lil bit more interest.

ridiculous prices for that crap indeed, I make them myself and they are super, very high quality and original design. people should buy less factory crap and make more by themselves.

Well good for you member,

Are you in Thailand? Do you make other leather products? If so I sure could use some Armour and I know atleast a half dozen other guys that do as well, maybe even period style bags and garb.

Even simple stuff like this gorget (neck protection) would be popular. And if you could do more complicated items like some of this stuff http://www.darkknightarmoury.com/ we would definitely have work for ya if your interested.

hey im not a young guy who is chapping from cell phones. my cell phone is only 700 baht and doesnt have net surfing function. as if i need them on those small screens. when im outside, im busy with checking asses. :jap: :jap: anways... i tink my living style is prolly up with u folks, i dont like things with high value. coz i might lose it or spill fish sauce on it...

anyways im talking about business bags for visiting customers and stuff. especially for sales people, looking cheapo or not can decide the outcome of the sales as well right? in my opinion, the top management actually dont know shit about the product, but are the deciders to incorporate in their company or not. right....?
