Acquiring Visa

Featured Replies

I have a question on visa extensions. I'm a dual citizen of the US and Japan and came to Thailand. And as I understand it, I can be here in Thailand for 30 days without a visa. The problem is that I am actually staying a total of about 40 days. I was wondering what I would have to do to get a visa to stay here in Thailand a little bit longer. I am in Chiang Mai right now. I was wondering how easy it would be to go to Laos and come back with a visa. Sorry if this sounds dumb. I don't know much about this subject.

You entered on your US passport? Japanese passport would receive 90 day visa exempt under current rules. You do not need a visa for stay of 40 days as you readably have 30. Just exit any land crossing and return for a 15 day visa exempt entry. You will have to use your current passport for this.

From Chiang Mai hopping over the border at Mai Sai wil do nicely. You will have to pay 500 baht to enter Burma.

Extension from local immigration office? it's only 10 days

Only seven days are given on a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

Oh, thought it was 15. I'm sure it was in 2006 but things change.
