:jap: I read through a thread that was in March 2011 regarding the fact that no-one has been granted PR status since 2006. Is this info

based on what Thaivisa members are aware of or is this 'official' information from the MOI/Government?

Does the Government make an official announcement each year that PR applications are being accepted or is it just understood that applications are accepted second week of December each year?

If anyone has been granted PR on this forum in recent years, please let me know.

I intend to apply this year and would really appreciate some upto date info.

The government makes an announcement each year that applications for PR are accepted. Normally somewhere in December for two weeks. Last year no announcement was made.

The government don't make it official because it's an embarrassment.

I assume they are still accepting applications. They are just not approving any. I have it on good authority that applications have been "approved" but are sitting on a desk waiting for a minister's signature ... some for 5 years.

The issue was raised recently with the government through the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce.

There's been no indication as to whether anything will change in the near future. At this point in time, nothing is going to happen for another 3-4 months. Given the number of governments since 2006, the return of the current government or a change of government is not likely to make much difference.
