News_Editor Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Car bomb kills at least 21 police officers in central Iraq 2011-05-05 19:21:40 GMT+7 (ICT) BABEL, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- A car bomb explosion targeted a police station in central Iraq on Thursday and killed at least 21 police officers, officials said. The explosion occurred at around 7:30 a.m. local time, when a booby-trapped car detonated near a police training center in the city of Hilla in Iraq's Babel province, killing at least 21 police officers and injuring another 52 people, a medical source told the Aswat al-Iraq news agency. According to reports, the car bomb detonated at the main entrance of the Police Training Center in central Hilla, which is located around 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of Baghdad, as overnight shift police officers conducted their handover to morning shift police.
