Pakistani police foil attack, kill 2 suicide bombers

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Pakistani police were able to thwart a suicide attack in the central region of the country, causing a suicide bomb to detonate before it reached its target, officials said Thursday.

Police in Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan opened fire at a suspicious vehicle after it refused to stop at the city's Zhob checkpoint, the Express Tribune reported, adding that the two suicide bombers in the vehicle were immediately killed. The vehicle was destroyed during the blast.

Investigative teams have begun operating in the Daraban and Zafarabad areas, as the scene of the incident was cordoned off in order for it to be examined.
