So, my brand new Vios E is in need of it's first fill-up. The sales gal told me that it can take 91, 95, or E20. What should I use? How does this all work (you probably can't mix half a tank of E20 with 91, right)? Which is the best for my car, for my mileage, and for my wallet?

Thanks!!!!

Id recommend 95 Gasohol.

OK, thanks. And the fuel economy on that is comprable to the others (cost per km)? And it's ok for that to be the first thing in my tank, or do I need to get a 1,000 or so KM's on the odometer before introduce that fuel?

The car only needs 91 octane, and is fully E20 compatible, so use E20 when available (as it's cheaper), otherwise Gasohol 91.

95 octane won't make a shred of difference to fuel economy or performance, it'll just cost you more. Also, no problems mixing 91,95 or E20 - doing so can never result in more than 20% Ethanol, which is within the car's design spec.

So....one vote for 95 Gasohol and one vote for E20! :)

I do see that E20 is about 4THB cheaper per liter. Will I get the same KM/L as if I used 95? If so, I like the sound of E20 :D

That said, can I start my car on E20 now, or do I need to wait a bit?

Thanks!

Gasohol 91 octane will give the same fuel economy as Gasohol 95 octane. E20 will give slightly less fuel economy due to increased ethanol content, but the price difference will more than make up for the difference (i.e. you'll still be ahead on E20).

No reason to wait - E20 is within design spec, so can be used immediately.

What does the owners manual say?

Thats right.91 gasoholl is better, just that we only have 95 easily comeby in the jungle, i froregot ,and its cheaper tha 91 Standard,:whistling:

Yeah, it's been a while, but it doesn't feel like that long ago that Benzene 95 and Benzene 91 cost less than 1 Baht/L more than Gasohol (2005).. Back then it absolutey made sense to run Benzene, because the extra milage it provided more than made up for the price difference..

Now you're looking at 8-10 Baht/L more for the equiv. in Benzene, so the only reason you'd use it now is because you had to (i.e. an older car, or something exotic).

I don't know....it's 342 pages long and 100% in Thai

No need - just open the fuel filler door and you'll see a sticker :)

Also, we already know that it's E20 compat by it's excise tax bracket ;)

You can use any, and as you say in some areas you can only find one or another. You can use the higher cost regular 91 also, but why ? With mine, just for every day driving I us the 91 gasahol. If I know I am going to do alot of hills (IE: between CM and lampang) I add 95 gasahol but truly I know it is a waste and can feel no difference except hte lack of funds in my wallet. With mine I do notice a slight decrease with E20 (E20 is also 95 octain) in km/l but it is at a lower cost,

you can mix any and be OK
