I got my local mp to contact ukba re update on my wife's ilr visa, there response was it's now with the case worker, can anyone put light on what this means thanks

I would imagine that the UKBA has tasked a 'case worker' who is currently looking into your wife's application for ILR, I would imagine that you have not heard anything since it's submission, hence contacting your MP and making this post, have any circumstances changed since she was granted limited leave to remain, how long have you been waiting...??

It means that the application is being processed.

Bellboy, it doesn't matter how many times you ask the question, the answer will always be that it could take up to 6 months.
