French Bread?

Featured Replies

Looking for a real loaf of French Bread. The ones I've tried at several local markets looked good on the outside but turned out to have rubbery crust and "Wonder Bread" consistency inside.

I plan on making a Beef Borguignon this weekend and without good bread; what's the point?

Recommendations???? Convenient to the BTS, please.

I like the French bread from Yamazaki (sp) They have a branch at Mor Chit BTS station. I see also, that the larger Tesco Lotus stores are selling some decent bread nowadays. Uncut wholemeal, focaccia, multiseed, rye, and wholemeal with olives, as well as French sticks, and balls.

Le Petit Boulangere (through ChefsXP)

baked fresh to order

Three words of warning: hydrogenated vegetable oil.

St. Eitole (sp?) has the best french bread I have had in Bangkok. I know they have a number of outlets, but I am not sure where near the BTS they are. I buy mine at either the Mall Bang Khae or Central Rama II.

(St. Eitole is the higher-end branch of the Yamazaki chain.)

Never tried their french bread, but there's a St. Etoile (spelling?) in Siam Paragon... connected to BTS Siam.

I had forgotten about St Eitole; there's a branch at the Emporium and I have indulged in their pastries in the past. Thanks for reminding me.

Delifrance, about 2 blocks from Saladeng BTS, is my favorite.
