Firstly... Hello!

My girlfriend and I have booked Scuba diving courses on Koh Tao and will be needing a Non-Immigrant Visa each. We have both been given a letter from the company explaining the courses we are booked for and an estimate of the time it will take. 1 year Multiple entry visas will be required.

My main question is: On the Thai embassy site it says for a Non-Imm B visa which is needed for Scuba courses we have to give:

Non-Immigrant Type B
  • Official Note certifying the purpose of travel from the Government Agencies /Embassies and Consulates / International Organizations / State Enterprises in Thailand. ("F" / "B" / "ED" / "M" / "R")
  • Letter from a company stating the objective of the visit to Thailand
  • Document showing correspondence with trading partners in Thailand.
  • Letter of invitation from companies qualified to employ foreigners.
  • Employment contract indicating rationale for hiring the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications (document must be signed by authorized managing director and affixed the seal of the company)
  • Copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (only in case the applicant has previously worked in the Kingdom )
  • Copy of corporate documents; namely

1) list of shareholders

2) business registration and business license

3) company profile

4) details of business operation

5) list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions

6) map indicating the location of the company

7) Balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and BusinessTax (Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30) of the latest year

8) Alien income tax return (Por Ngor Dor 91) and

9) Value-added tax registration (Por Ngor Dor 20), etc.

  • Copy of educational records of the applicant and letters of recommendation from the prior employers, identifying job description and length of service time.
  • Document indicating the number of foreign tourists (for tourism business only),or document indicating export transactions issued by banks (for export business only)

Now everything except the letter from diving company seems to be related to employment in Thailand. Do I still have to gather all this information for both of us even though it is just for a diving course and not employment?

However, as I wish to apply by post I will be applying to the Hull consulate, on their website it says for diving course I must apply for Non-Imm ED visa, and only require letter from company. If I am to apply there do I just use what is stated on their website?

Sorry for long post, but just confused as to how this works.

Thanks,

Peter

You do not need a non-B visa. Normally an ED-visa is given to follow a course.

Suggest you contact Hull to confirm that the letter from the diving school is enough to get the multiple ED-visa. You can download their forms, and the form should tell you all that is needed for a ED-visa.

OK excellent, will contact them to make sure. The company we will be diving with said an ED visa would do but having read the Embassy site, with it specifically mentioning Scuba courses I just wanted to check.

Will post what Hull have to say for anyone else looking in the future.

Thankyou for the speedy reply.

Embasies tnd to be more strict than consulates. Especially honorary consulates tend to be much more friendly/liberal in issueing a visa.

Received a reply from Hull, the letter is enough evidence so will be filling in forms today.

Thanks for the help.
