I'm not sure if this is in the right section or not. If not, feel free to move it to the proper section.

So, I'm planning on joining the Military here in the US, Now I'm wondering, would I lose my Thai citizenship status? Cause on the passport of United States, they say that if you join a foreign military, you're US citizenship is revoke.

So can I join the US Military and still have Dual Nationality? (Thai and US Citizenship)

Thank you!

But you are not joining a foreign military, you are joining the US military and it says on the passport if you join a 'foreign' military, so I guess it is more important what it says in the Thai regulations rather than the US regulations as to whether you lose your dual nationality, I doubt you will lose US status if you joint he US military.

Thailand will not have a problem with that, unless the US and Thailand declare war on each other.

Joining the military of another country is no reason to revoke Thai nationality.

Thanks for the answers/help!

I'm planning to join the Army or the Air Force here in the US that's why and I was worried that I might lose my Thai Nationality too.

The one thing that hasnt been considered is that the US military may require you to give up your Thai citizenship prior to joining, (if they happen to know about your dual nationality) and there may in fact be a section in the documentation which will be filling in which asks this specific question

So Thailand may not revoke your Thai citizenship, they US military may force you to give it up otherwise they will not let you in....just a thought

Certainly in my mind, a question which should be asked

There are more than few foreign nationals in the U.S. military -- they can join if they have a green card (but can not be an officer or warrant officer). So I'd be sort of surprised if there's any reason why, in most cases, a dual citizen would have to give up his foreign citizenship.

a comment was removed... the thread is about dual citienship and military service, not pros and cons of doing military service.

OP -- u would have to check with thailand, and also check about your thai military service since u are military age and hold a thai passport...
