Turn Of The Mouse Pad

Featured Replies

Is there any way you can disable the mouse pad thing on a notebook, I've got a Compaq and when typing if I catch by accient I end up typing elsewhere in the document. Any ideas??

You can probably disable it in the BIOS settings (setup). Usually accessed by pressing 'del' or 'F1' during startup (there will be a message 'press xxx to enter setup').

If it's a Synaptics touchpad there is a 'palm check' option to prevent exactly the effect that you are getting, look in 'mouse' on the control panel.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Only option what really works, buy an extra "USB" keyboard........

i have set my laptop so that if i plug in an external mouse the mousepad becomes inactive

That's what I want to do. How??? :D:o:D

On my notebook, if I press Fn + 7 it disables the mouse. Perhaps there is a similar function on yours

Looks like you'll have to resort to reading the manual :o
