Am taking my wife back to the UK soon for my Stepfathers imminent funeral, am applying for the Visa now as he has not been given long to live and do not want to wait and find we cannot get one when it is required. Anyhow wife has an Interview next week, but just getting the documents together, but you always miss something and four eyes are better than two. So here is my list what have I forgotten (by the way we both live in Thailand).

1. Form VAF 1B plus photo.

2. Letter from me explaining why we are applying now.

3. Printed Application from on-line application

4. Her current Passport and copy.

5. Her previous Passport and copy.

6. Her ID Card and copy.

7. Her Tambien Baan plus copy.

8. Marriage Certificate plus copy.

9. Letter from Employer giving her leave when required.

10. Payslips from her employment plus copies.

11. Papers for the 2 Condos plus copies.

12. Letter from my uncle giving us permission to live at his house.

13. Letter from the Halifax proving my Uncle is the owner.

14. Copy of his Photo page from UK Passport proving British Citizen.

15. My Passport plus copy.

16. Cashiers cheque for 3952baht payable to the British Embassy Bangkok.

So please if I have missed something tell me.

Thanks in advance

Addition - The letters from my uncle were sent by email and then printed out by myself, is this acceptable to the Embassy? Or do they want originals? (everyone knows the post gets here and sometimes doesn't).

Are you sponsoring Beano? in which case you will need to provide your own financial details, bank statement and the like, also copies of your passport details indicating your status in Thailand, I would provide these anyway - belt and braces.

When you say "your wife has an interview" I assume you mean she has a slot at the VFS, she won't be interviewed.

Differing views on the e-mailed letters, I have always provided e-mailed letters and never had a problem, I think ECO's are realists.

I don't imagine your wife will have a problem.

Edit, I have just re-read and note you have already indicated a passport copy, sorry mate.

Hi, Beano.

Don't forget that they want translations of all Thai language documents now as in this link under "Originals or photocopies?" http://www.ukvisas.g...fsdocschecklist

They don't have to be expensive, professionally-produced translations. We had most of ours done for a recent application by an English-teaching Thai friend, for example. So long as name, signature, contact details, date & confirmation of accuracy are included, they appear to be acceptable. Might be quicker that way, too, rather than going to a translation service.

The only document I have in Thai is the marriage certificate, and I believe that can be left in Thai and not translated as some of the staff at the Embassy and VFS are Thai and have seen these documents a lot of times

We are using our money to spend in the UK, my uncle is supplying Accommodation only, so i will do my Bank books too.

Wife went to VFS this morning, told me not many people touting for the Visa place next door. In and out quickly and all documents in order. Just have to wait now.
