MIRANSHAH, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- An explosive device detonated at a restaurant in northwestern Pakistan, reportedly killing one person and injuring another 12, local media reported.

According to Pakistan's the Nation, official sources said the bomb was placed at a packed restaurant in Miranshah, located in Pakistan's volatile tribal region of North Waziristan, and detonated on Monday morning.

Among the 12 injured were women and children, and according to further reports, one of the children died after succumbing to her wounds at a local hospital.

Security forces arrived shortly after the blast, cordoning off the area and launching investigations, but no arrest has been made in relation to the blast.

North Waziristan forms part of Pakistan's Afghan border, which the United States considers to be the most dangerous place on Earth. It is known to be a stronghold of the Taliban's Haqqani Network, considered one of the top terrorist organizations and threats to U.S. forces in Afghanistan.
