Podcasts In Car-Help

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have a Sony radio/CD player 10 years old but with good speakers in the car.

The CD is bust and I don't like it anyway.

I came across a marvellous little gadget for 180 baht which plugs in the cig lighter and in turn you plug a thumb drive into it. On my thumb drive is music or, more important by far, podcasts. The gadget sends a radio signal on 87.50 to the radio! Incredible and good sound too. I am turning traffic queues into a pleasure with David Attenborough and Fareed Zakaria who knows what!

Here's where you all come in. I need inventive, or at least some sort, of solutions.....

If I stop the car 15 minutes into a 30 minute podcast (or in future a 20 hour audiobook maybe) when I start again so does the dam_n podcast. And again. And again. Can change tracks instantly, but no fast forward inside a track.

HOW do I get round this problem?

Is there a better transmitter?

Maybe this one? I somehow connect my iPad to something by bluetooth/whatever so it goes to the speakers? (prefer not to wear headphones thanks). At least it'll be a use for the otherwise useless iPad.

Second best is there a slim bluetooth headset which will pick up the iPad (no single ear thanks)?

Or do I have to forget iPad and replace the radio/CD player with a new USB playing device. Do these have fast forward and back? Do they have a remote or do I need to be fiddling around down round the gear stick to get the right track?

thanks in advance

Where did you find that "little gadget for 180 baht which plugs in the cig lighter". I'm pretty much in the same situation.

Hi,

you could split the mp3 files into 4-5 minutes tracks, so you could forward to the last track and waste no more then 4-5 minutes.

Bluetooth stereo head sets are widely available. I use a Jabra Clipper, music for around 6 hours or 8 days standby cost around 1600 THB.

If you use the Ipad in your car I think a Ipad to FM transmitter is better then a headset.

I think maybe it was Lotus and would think you can try Amorn.

I was at a small car sounds supplier the other day and told him my problem. He went straight and got something which was exactly like what i had except black.

I said how much he said without blinking 500 baht. I said mine cost 180. He said this one's different it plays fast forward for sure. I said it's the same. He said no it's got this direct to the radio jack. I looked and my yellow one had exactly the same. I said OK I'll try it. You know the rest.......it was exactly the same. Sad.

How would I do that Uwe? Is it very time consuming?

.....and what would you recommend as the player....the iPad would work?

Me too.

But do they have fast forward etc.? And where from?

vielen danke

Had a brainwave yesterday.

Why not connect the USB connector direct from my iPad into my radio transmitter gadget?

Play the iPad podcast and trasmit it to my radio and therefore speakers through the gadget.

I tried. I didn't work.

Then I thought hmmm, how does this transmitter gadget work? There must be something, hardware/software, in it to "play" the tracks inside the thumb drive. Well if the iPad is already playing one wants to bypass this.

So is it possible to connect from the iPad audio out jack to the USB port on the transmitter gadget?

Is there a ready made thingy?

Or can one solder wires from the iPad jack going to a couple of the USB connectors?

And would it work?
