Dusit Poll: Vote buying concerns Thais the most in the next election

BANGKOK, 5 June 2011 (NNT)-In the latest survey by Suan Dusit, it was discovered that what concerned the majority of the respondents the most was cheating during the election period while it was also believe that political candidates were trying to discredit each other to win supports from the public.

In the recent survey of over 2,000 Thais across the country, most of the respondents have said vote buying tops the list of things that worry them the most in this election. Other worries include the use of violence against other political parties, not voting for the right person, biased government officials and not knowing who to vote for respectively.

When asked for their opinions regarding the political campaigns, 33% believe that each political party is using violence and verbal abuse to discredit their opponents.

Worried about vote buying as in how much will they pay?

When asked for their opinions regarding the political campaigns, 33% believe that each political party is using violence and verbal abuse to discredit their opponents.

These polls always make their declarative statement in the negative with less then the majority result listed.

In the above example, the majority of people do not "believe that each political party is using violence and verbal abuse to discredit their opponents."

Even allowing the usual 10% who are "unsure", (which also always strikes me as an odd response when the survey question posed is straight-forward and easy to form an opinion on something clear-cut), that would still leave 57% who "don't believe"....

ah well, polls...

There will only be more and more of them over the coming weeks.

#edit to modify. Usually it's the journalistic publication that makes these statements and not the pollsters themselves as they usually put out the results in their entity. It's the various media then that dissect and shoddily report as described above.

They could be worried about getting a fair price in the stealth bidding process. Going once, going twice, your vote is sold!

I note that 'other worries' includes those who vote for the wrong person. Words fail me.

Simple solution. Don't sell your vote.

Correct but it will happen, I suggested before that those selling their vote should lose their vote for life, but that won't happen. At least by selling their vote they get something, what do Western "democracies" give us except broken promises? :ermm:

edit for typo
