June 5, 201115 yr Is the fact, that the Farang-Husband is married with a Thai-Lady sufficient for the Farang to stay in Thailand on it's own on a "O" Marriage Visa, or MUST the Thai-Wife also stay and live in Thailand with the husband? Thanks & cheers.
June 5, 201115 yr For a one-year extension of stay the marriage must be "de jure and de facto". For a valid (not expired) non-immigrant "O" visa it does not matter. Edited June 5, 201115 yr by InterestedObserver

June 5, 201115 yr "What do I need to do to stay in Thailand while married to a wonderful lady without loosing my US citizenship and benefits?" Your US citizenship is safe. Nothing to worry about. No comment on benefits because I don't know which ones you're talking about. For visa info on how to stay here while married to a Thai, see the pinned topics at the top of the forum. All the paperwork and financial requirements are spelled out there.
June 5, 201115 yr Is the fact, that the Farang-Husband is married with a Thai-Lady sufficient for the Farang to stay in Thailand on it's own on a "O" Marriage Visa Being married to a Thai wife is not enough. The annual extensions are for living with your wife and every year when you apply your wife must accompany you to the immigration office for an interview with the officer. Immigration may also go and visit some of your neighbours to ask whether the two of you are really living together. If you are talking about an application for a visa from a Thai consulate for the purpose of visiting your wife in Thailand, the situation is different. Not all consulates have the same requirements but I have never heard that proof was needed that your wife would be in Thailand during the period of your visit in Thailand. The consulate in Zurich wanted from me copies of the marriage certificate and return ticket, plus two passport photographs. The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
