Thai Maritime Certificates Which Classes Of Certificates, What Requirements

Featured Replies

Would anybody have knowledge of the various classes of Thai maritime certificates (for boat operation)?

And the associated requirements for obtaining such?

---------------------

In particular, what are the relevant requirements for operating a Thai registered pleasure craft, (in Thai waters)?

(Would it be relatively straight forward to obtain a Thai certificate on the basis of IMO DO compatible certificates?)

Grateful for any light that could be shed on the above.

The following documents are required to obtain a Thai boating license for a Thai registered vessel:

* A passport

* A letter of residency from the Immigration Bureau or the applicant's Embassy in Thailand

* A medical certificate

* All relevant licenses and documentation showing foreign licenses and experience

While it may be possible to transfer a foreign license without having to take the exam all papers verifying past experience should be taken to the Harbor Office. If you do have to take a test then it may be necessary to take a translator as it may not be in English.

This is for non-commercial pilots, however.
