Hello,

I hope someone can give me some advice. I am a student, and I came to Thailand on Dec. 26 last year. I studied as an exchange student at Chula and I am now currently working as an intern for a Thai company.

Before I came to Thailand I obtained a Non Immigrant B Multiple Entry Visa from the consulate in Amsterdam. I got a big stamp on my visa that says: "No extention possible".

I will finish my internship on December 23 and will stay one more month for holiday. My flight back to Holland is on the 24th of January.

My question is: if I leave Thailand before December 26th (the day my visa expires), will the stamp my passport again for three months, or only until this day? In that case, will it be possible to leave Thailand and return on a tourist visa when showing my planeticket (baring in mind that my Non-Im visa clearly states: no extention.

I hope that someone can advice me.

Thanks a lot!

If you depart and return before your multi entry visa expires you will receive a 90 day entry.

But it is hard for me to believe the dates you provide as to expire on Dec 26, 2005 would mean it was issued on Dec 27, 2004 but you say your arrived on Dec 26th?

Sorry for the confusion. My visa was issued early December 2004 in Amsterdam, but my first date of entry to Thailand was December 26th 2004, so I thought that my visa expires on December 26th 2005.

But if I understand correctly you are saying that if I leave Thailand before December 26th, they will give me another 90 days? In that case I am perfectly fine, then I will go on another visarun early December and no need to worry about touristvisas or anything.

IMPORTANT!!!!

Vincent, check your visa 'use before' date, you MUST re-enter Thailand BEFORE that date in order to get 90 days, otherwise you will get just a 30 day stamp.

Thai visas start on the day they are issued NOT the day you enter the Kingdom.

Thank you very much. I didn't know that, but it is quite useful to now. My visa was issued on the 9th of December, so in that case I will go on a visarun before the ninth of December, which means they will give me another 90 days.

It is then always possible to leave Thailand in January for a short holiday to Vietnam, and come back on a tourist visa right, provided that I show my planeticket to Amsterdam on the 24th of January. Is this right? Eventhough my business visa states: No extention possible.

Sorry for all those questions, but I just want to make sure I stay out of troubles with the Thai Immigration.

If your visa was issued on the 9th is expires on the 8th so no you can not enter on the 9th because you would not have a valid visa.

You could obtain a re-entry permit and travel with no loss of days or you could obtain a 30 day entry if your passport allows but that would require 10,000 baht show if asked.

You visa would not be extended - you would enter on a 30 day entry without visa.

Lop is correct of course, the data on the visa is a use BEFORE (not on) date.

Best to make your run a couple of days early to be sure :o
