Does Anyone Drink Their Well Water Via A Filter System?

Featured Replies

My house water comes from a deep well. I was wondering if it's safe to connect a filtration system to my kitchen tap to use for drinking?

Or would it be wise to have the water tested first to see what is in it? Is there anywhere on Samui that does this?

A few friends have told me that pesticides used in farming up on the hills get in to the water table and that filters don't remove them. Is this true?

Any info would be appreciated. I'd like to stop buying/using plastic bottles for drinking water if possible.

Matt.

u can buy a system about 5000 baht that purifies water. not sure what they are cooled but i would not drink well water.

also u can get the water tested as supot electric in manam

There is a place in Maenam on the left hand side heading to Nathon. It's very close to the turn off to Farmers on the left & the big Lapidary shop. Sign outside that they sell pool salt.

Lady very nice & husband is a professional. They do water testing & have all systems engineered for you.

Alternatively Samui Water Tech, which just sends the water away to be rested & then sell you the wrong filters lol.

Samui Water Tech (near Big C), Supot electric (near Bophut traffic lights) and Samui Water Master (after Maenam on the way to Nathon) all did tests for me in the past to check if the deep water wells at the north end of Samui provide potable water.

All were OK for drinking but.... for sure, the taste and smell were iffy.

In Plai Laem - my immediate neighbours, her indoors and I brush our teeth, cook etc using unfiltered water. For drinking - we use mineral water - but at times we will use the tap stuff. Filtering produces a better, drinkable water supply. If I remember correctly you will need to filter out iron and the smell. (Two different filters.) We did not bother on our house. 15 baht for 20 litres of mineral water and the rest - we use the tap straight from the well. We have been here 11 years and survived so far.

That's the name for the one in Maenam Samui Water Master , thanks Tropicalevo.

There are Filters and then there are "Filters". The only safe "water-purification" method you should consider, is a so called "R/O" System. This means "Reverse-Osmosis". If you purchase a R/O system (talk about Bt. 10~12K) then you can rest assured that your'e drinking safe water.

We've had this system (Unit under the sink, with a special "Drinking-Water-Tap" on the top) for many years and with great success !

You must insist on the R/O System, everything else could be very dangerous !

Hope this helps ?
