theVenerable Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Hi I was in thailand at the begining of this year... just had the visiting visa. But i was there longer, so i had to go on visa runs. But i was told (after allready doing my visa runs) that i didnt have to go every 2 weeks.. I hear so many different stories about this tho. So for my next trip there, i'd like to be prepared. So. 1. Can i sort out a six month before i travel there, to save all them extra visa runs!? what is the limit.. can i even sort out a yearly visa before traveling to thailand? 2. If I do overstay, is it true that i dont have to go on visa runs every 2 weeks? There is maybe some other way to sort it out? Thanks.. Regards, Russ
Lite Beer Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 A two entry Tourist Visa will give you almost 6 months with extensions from Immigration and one border run in the middle. A 3 entry will give almost 9 months with extensions and 2 border runs. Apply by post to the Thai Consulate in Hull (I am assuming you are in UK.)
theVenerable Posted June 12, 2011 Author Posted June 12, 2011 Thanks for clarifying. I know what a border run is of course, but what is an extension from immigration? And how do i go about getting them? Thanks again. P.s, I'm in south uk (Luton)
Lite Beer Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 A Tourist Visa gives a stay of 60 days. A few days before that ends pop along to Immigration and extend it for a further 30 days at a cost of 1,900 Baht. Application Form and passport size photo needed. Do that with every 60 day stay. Apply for Visas from a Thai Consulate by post, very quick service. Not the Embassy in London.

Lite Beer Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Yes you do. After the 90 days are up you need to exit Thailand and return to activate your next entry.

I'm a canadian living in australia....so it's making it a little difficult because i can't just go to my home consulate. thanks
lopburi3 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 There is no longer a Consulate in Perth but there is in Brisbane and mail can be used. http://www.thaiconsulate.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=90&Itemid=109
