ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) -- A California man is facing five charges in connection with the beating, burning, and stabbing of a 5-year-old boy, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

Carmen William Iacullo II, 33, of Placentia, California, is being accused of beating a 5-year-old boy who is a relative of his girlfriend. He allegedly used his fists and a wooden kitchen utensil to beat the child, while also burning the victim with cigarettes and a lighter, and stabbing the victim with scissors or pliers, the office of Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said.

In addition, Iacullo is also being accused of picking the victim up by his genitals and dropping him to the ground. The abuse left him with extensive bruising on his body, a black eye, multiple cigarette burns to his chest and a lighter burn to his anus, as well as stab and cut wounds to his leg and toes.

Iacullo's girlfriend, Lori Louisa Pincus, 39, also from Placentia, is being charged with one felony count for not contacting the police or seeking any medical attention for the tortured boy. Furthermore, Pincus allegedly did not send the child to school to avoid any suspicion of abuse against the couple.

When the Placentia Police Department arrested Iacullo last week for a parole violation for drug paraphernalia, Pincus allegedly ordered the boy to hide under the bed in order to prevent police from seeing him. However, the following day, Pincus visited Iacullo at the Santa Ana Police Department jail, time in which the boy left their house and was spotted by a friend of Pincus near a gas station.

Noticing the physical injuries on the boy, the friend contacted the police.

If convicted, Pincus faces a maximum sentence of six years and eight months in state prison, as she is being held on $100,000 bail. Iacullo, who is held on $1 million bail, if convicted, is facing a maximum sentence of life in state prison.
