I thought the thai's liked thier entertainers young. Kylie is 43 yrs old and past it by Thai standards. I can't see your average thai being able to afford the 5,000 baht ticket cost (more than a months wages) I think comming to Thailand will send Kylie bankrupt there is absolutely no way she could recoup the cost of the show.

Kylie has a huge gay fan club. She began performing in gay clubs in England.

That is very true, the gay community seem to love her. Another very good reason for us straight people to stay away from her concerts. Leave her to them.

This forum hardly ever surprises me. When I saw this Kylie thread, I was wondering how soon the first anti-gay comment will come...and bingo !

So, Softgeorge, you think gay folks and straight folks cannot enjoy a concert together ?

Gees !

UM if you ask the question I would have to say no. I do not go to gay concerts or mardi gras simply for one reason alone and that is I do not move in that circle. Attending a concert with a 1,000 men dressed up as kylie wanna be's and dancing around is not my idea of fun. Before you say I am homophobic because it's not my scene let me say your wrong. I have nothing against gays I like women and they like men and each unto thier own.

Considering that most of expensive seats are pretty much sold out (barely managed to find 2 connected seats today in 'pink' areas, think there were 7-8 scattered seats left in the pink area), I don't think she'll worry about that. She sold out her 2008 concert in Bangkok, so I guess she (her manager, rather) knew what she was getting into.

People don't go to watch Kylie because they're gay (sure as hell my wife and I are not, nor are many other people I know who like Kylie) or because they expect Ana Caram type of performance/singing.

They go because it is lots of fun, and is (usually) worth it.

Stereotypes never die.

Like me, she was born in Malvern, but spent most of her career in the UK. We must be meant for each other (/stalking mode)

BTW, Ramsay St is actually Pinoak Court, Vermont South. Google Maps takes you there.

.Since nobody wrote about it yet, i thought i would add my 2 cents...

I expected to be entertained - maybe I was hoping for more of her greatest hits to sing along to....

For the first 30-40 mins it was VERY VERY gay........ I felt quite an outsider... felt a bit like the katoey cabaret meets the chippendales....... I know she relies on her gay icon status but there was not much to look at for me.... the back projection got old very quickly...for me anyway.

The arena looked half full at best, and seemed to me to be quite flat in atmosphere, although the guys aroiund us in fancy dress were doing their best to fill the room..

Finally when the big hits started, the farang in the audience started getting animated..

The disco beat got very irritating very quickly, and only the fact that Kylie's voice was so shrill and nasal helped it cut through on the PA .. I was sitting high but directly behind the mixing desk... so it sounded like a bad disco sound to me...

One encore and a bemused Thai audience fell quiet befoe any second one...

My Thai missus quite enjoyed it. especially the audience participation slot.... My stepdaughter couldn't be bothered even to come along. Kylie who? How much was the ticket? You are joking right....Didn't see many kids there at all - not even katoey kids...

The people- watching before and after the show was the best bit for me - some absolutely stunning individuals - 6 foot 4 in their heels..... Amazons to say the least...

It was clear that the ticket touts working the crowd before the event were losing a lot of money.... so i guess it must be true that many Thais were not prepared to pay more than 2000 for a ticket..

In the UK the position of commere in a moving wallpaper programme targeted at the hard of thinking and/or undiscerning rejoicing in the title of Blind Date was created for Cilla Black just to stop the bloody woman singing. Pity that something similar couldn't have been arranged for this would be chanteuse.

Don't the really talented people fill out such venues as Las Vegas, Radio City, Royal Albert Hall? You don't get top rung people from the arts world appearing in Bangkok do you?

Kylie Minogue Performs in Bangkok

Diva Kylie Minogue returned to Thailand again for her third concert in the city of angels.

It was a fun-filled two hours of the latest singles from her new album and her classic hits.

Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite 2011 Live in Bangkok concert on Saturday night at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani took the theme of Greek mythology with Kylie making her appearance onstage in a huge seashell.

The 43 year old diva from Australia did not disappoint her fans at her third concert in Thailand. The first was in 1990 and the second in 2008.

Her costumes were spectacular as usual, and the performance was filled with acrobatics.

The success of this concert came as no surprise as it was produced by Steve Dixon, the man behind concerts featuring Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Keys.

It included eight containers and 43 tons of equipment.

The costumes were designed by Dolce and Gabbana, and these alone took up two containers. Some costumes are worth more than one million baht as they required handmade stitching of sequins.

The props are the same used in her U.S. tour, including a huge seashell and a ten-foot tall Pegasus horse.

But the most amazing part of the concert was the diva herself, who sang and danced non-stop for over two hours, performing some 20 songs, including hits from her latest album 'Aphrodite,' her 11th album, such as 'Aphrodite' and 'You're the One,' as well as classic hits like 'Can't Get You out of My Head,' 'Spinning Around,' 'All the Lovers,' and 'Locomition', which was a request from the audience.

What sent the crowd rocking was how she also invited two Thai fans, who dressed up in full costume, on stage, much to their amazement. They were given hugs and photo opportunities with her.

A lot of famous Thai stars showed up for the concert such as Catreeya English and Christina and Theresa Aguilar.

Concert was satisfying.

I do have to admit that I was bit puzzled as with who setup the sound system, since it was really crap (or the hall shape might just be that bad so that sound is lost and there was lots of echo). Or maybe they just had some amateurs set it up. Don't know.

The performance was fantastic. She sang well, I never felt as if she was taking it easy. Dancers were also fantastic. Choreography was mind blowing. It *was* very entertaining.

And to be honest, I never considered Kylie to be a 'singer' (rather, an entertainer), but she sings really well. Some people are irritated by her voice color, but other than that - she's a really good singer. Didn't hear her miss anything during the concert, pitch accuracy was spot on as well (even after the break/ovation during her solo act with piano only). Better than expected. Was surprised with how well she sang Eurythmics' "There must be an angel" part.

To me, it looked like arena was almost full, but I was at the front and front of the hall was full, at least.

Most amusing part was watching all those people siting in front rows, never standing up and being busy watching their phones and typing messages, rather than watching a concert. Classic.

Kylie was good, entertainment was good, sound system was crap, and this arena is probably not the best choice for concerts (where sound quality matters).

Sting was in Bangkok, for example. Are you saying that Sting is not good enough for you?

Robbie Williams sang in Royal Albert Hall. Strangely enough, he also performed in Bangkok.

Blah, blah, blah.

Then again, you could always go and watch some really talented superstar like this:

I'll stick with Kylie.

It's a bit of a stretch to say the singing budgie can act. She was in Neighbours for a few years but that was 400 years ago. The Delinquents was pathetic and only got a few aussies to go see it because it was filmed here.

She also isn't really noted for her singing ability, more so for her video clips. Apparently her concerts are good entertainment and she gets a big following from tweens and gays, but this little black duck is quite happy not to attend even if it was free.
