Tourist Visa Complicates Me

Featured Replies

Hi,

anyone can advice? I was told that entering Thailand by crossing via Malaysia, the stamp will normally be a 15 days. I intended to stay for more than 15 days in Thailand, so I went to Thai embassy to applied for a Visa ( not more than 60 days ) .

This is the first time I'm doing this Visa thingy in Thailand. So I presumed that once the sticker is paste in my passport, I can stay in Thailand for 60 days. But this is not the case the Thai embassy advice. They told me that even though you have the Tourist Visa paste in your passport, upon entering Thailand, the officer might still stamp a 15 days.

This advice had confuse me? Isn't mean the Visa I'd applied from the Thailand embassy the highest authority? If not, what's the point for me to apply for that sticker? Can someone in here advice? Any inputs appreciate!!!

You should get your visa stamped check your passport before leaving the office and make sure he stamped the visa also put the visa number on the arrival card. Even with a visa in your passport they donot have to let you in.

This situation even happens at the airport the officer misses the visa and just does the auto 30 day stamp.

Check your passport before leaving office. If it does happen you can get it corrected in Bangkok at immigration. if they will not correct at border.

If needed you can also extend the 60 day tourist visa another 30 days for a total of 90 days. Do the extension at immigration before it expires and you do not lose any days of the visa.

Thanks mate!!! Very clear info and I hope it works. I make sure before stamping my passport, I show the officer the Visa page first.

Must I tell him in advanced that I have a 60 days Visa?

Put your arrival card with visa number on page of passport where your visa is located. Like I said earlier the problem is people forgetting to put visa number on arrival card and the immigration officer misses it.

On the arrival card you have to fill out for Thai immigration there is a field for the visa number. Be sure to write your visa number there, and as suggested above, check that you were given the correct arrival stamp granting you permission to stay for 60 days. Mistakes are rarely made and would be the only way that you could be given only 15 days, ie by mistake, when you arrive with a tourist visa.
