Hi,

I will shortly be applying for a Retirement Visa.

Just wanted to ask regarding proof of funds, will the authorities accept a printed back statement from an internet bank account.?

( So i print the statement,it will not be on letterheaded paper etc.)

Nobody here can answer that definitely. Based on recent reports, it is unlikely any proof will be asked. That may or may nor change. If they do ask, what proof will be accepted will be up to the specific policies at your office/officer. I assume you are talking about back up proof to verify your embassy income letter.

For a one-year extension of stay based on retirement you need 800,000 baht on deposit in a Thai bank for two months for first application, three months on subsequent applications, is one way to go. You need your updated Thai bankbook plus letter from the bank with exact account balance, issued within a couple of days of application to immigration.

800K method for retirement extensions done IN THAILAND? Generally just hand over a copy of your bank book going back some months AND an official letter "for immigration" from your Thai bank issued as close to the immigration meeting. Typically, the day before but perhaps some offices may even ask same day. You should make a small transaction just before you get the letter and the balance in the letter must match the bank book EXACTLY. For first extension, the money must be in the Thai bank at least TWO months. My previous post had nothing to do with your situation as I assumed you were using an income method.

If you are talking about getting an O-A visa in your home country, refer to the embassy website, but generally the money shown is usually in your home country and bank statement copies, etc. copies will do.
