Is it Possible for me to obtain a Visa while i am in Thailand? I beleive i need a type B, or a type O but i'm not exactly sure.

I work overseas and on my time off i plan to spend it in Koh Samui. I have entered a few times on a 30 day stamp, but i want to get a visa so everything is above board.

I do not plan to work in Thailand at all, not sure if that makes a difference to the type of visa i need. But i would like to open a bank account.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You cannot buy a visa in Thailand. If you want to stay longer than 30 days a lot depends on age, monies, marriage status or needs of education jap.gif

No problem opening a Bank account on Koh Samui on 30 day visa exempt stamp.

Try Kasikorn Bank Beginning of beach road in Chaweng.

with an non imigrant visa (its doesen´t a matter which bank) it is very easy to open an bank account.

you also can make a national driving license or buy a car or motorbike on your name.

I think the maximum amount of days i will be in Thailand at a time will be roughly 26. followed by approx 1 month out of the country.

What would be the best way to get a Visa? I'm guessing I need a type O visa since I'm not looking to work here. Could I get this done in Malaysia?

Thanks for the advice about the bank accounts, when i went into Bangkok Bank in the Tesco lotus, the girl behind the counter told me i needed a years visa and a rental agreement on a property.

Entry stamp seems good enough & free, next step would be a Tourist Visa which mean buying one before departing for Thailand and they now cost ! You need reason for O visa and to get 1 in SE Asia can be difficult, but it seems you do not need 1 at all if only max of 30 days

Unless you are married to, or patent of, a Thai there does not seem to be any option other than visa exempt as you now use or tourist visa for 60 days.

Bangkok Bank does not require a non immigrant visa to open an account by official policy so have them check hqs or move to another branch. But you would need a tourist visa (which you do not have) and a letter or address or someone with you to help. Most say K-Bank is even easier.

If you are from the UK, get a second passport. When you are out of the country apply to Thai Consulate in Hull for whichever visa you need and are entitled to. They will return your passport and visa to a UK or EU address. from there get it sent to your place of work ready for your next trip to thailand.

Best option would be for an one year multi entry if you are entitled. Otherwise 90 day tourists visas would require you repeating the pattern over many times. This is totally legal and I have done it many times without an issues.

I think the second passport it the road I'm going to go down, I'm entitled to a second passport for work reason anyway so I think its the best way to play it.

Thanks for everyones help.
