We are planning an extended stay in Thailand beginning in December of this

year. We are planning to bring our two small dogs as we do not wish to leave

them in the USA.

Does anybody have any fairly recent experience or knowledge of Pet Quarantine

requirments in Thailand.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you from Bob and Patty.....

We bought our cat straight in with a animal firm. Neede the right paperwork. A friend of mine had his cat in the hold and it came through on the carousel. Even less problems. Straight through customs. No questions.

Recently helped getting a cat in. You need to ensure that animal has the proper vaccinations (I found info on this via a google search) and get a certificate from your local vet on that.

You should also contact the animal quarantine office at BKK airport and give them pre-advise of your arrival (we did that but must admit they did not seem to care much - but the cat was brought as hand luggage which seemed to make the main difference there).

There is a fee (think was 100 Baht) - and it took 10 minutes to get the needed form at animal q.

Hope helps. Cheers!

I brought 9 cats in from the UK last yr. None had to go thru quarantine.

Just make sure they have their vacs. My agent wanted pics too and invoices but I guess that was because he thought I was going to flog them. I mean why on earth would anyone bring 9 cats to thailand??? I often ask myself that question.

There seems to be very little problem in bringing pets in to the Kingdom, but hope you are not thinking of bringing them back, as your country may required you to Quarantine your pets for 6 months or more. Thailand is one of a few country in the world that animal seems to need a long quarantine period.

Hi, we are possibly relocating to Bangkok in 3 months and we will be be bringing our cats too. Can anyone please advise if it is still as simple as having a valid health certificate and informing the animals quarantine office? Understand that quarantine may not be required. Appreciate any info. Thanks Min

Hi Guys,

follow the instructions that BambinA send you. I also enquired at Phuket Int AP and they informed me that I will need an import permit as well. You can send your pets details to the email on Bambins reply and they will send the import permit via email. The permit is valid 45 days.

Good luck

Hi,

So it's really that easy to bring a cat ? Just vaccination and letter from Veterinary stating that the pet is healthy when arriving at Bangkok airport ?

And how much did you pay for the cat trip ? Is a cat allowed to travel in cabin ?

And can you bring the cat even when you have a tourist visa ?

Thanks a lot.

You also need an import certificate. You need to either call or email Bangkok quarantine office and ask for one. Then you fill it out, scan it and email it back to them.

I called them and they said that there is nothing to do in Thailand before bringing the pet.

Just get a document before leaving your country to confirm vaccination and good health then met them at Suvarnaburmi when you arrived in Thailand.

Weird, because they were the ones who told me I needed that. But hey, if it works, then ok --Less paperwork to do.
