Hi

I currently have a multi O-visa. I want to extend it based upon marriage.

The problem being is that my visa will expire on July 26, 2011.

Due to some unfortunate delays, I had 400,000 baht deposited from overseas.

The money arrived 1st of June. I've been told that it is necessary to have the money

in the bank for 2 months.

But my visa will expire a week short of that date.

What should I do?

First extend 60 days on basis of visiting wife and then when that is less than 30 days you can do the one year extension of stay. There is no financial requirement for the 60 day extension of stay.

Is it the visa that expires or the permission to stay? If it is the actual visa that you got abroad that expires and not the permission to stay from immigration, you can just leave and re-enter the country to get a new 90 days.

Depending on your location the 60 day extension might be easier.

Sounds easy to do...

I live in Ubon Ratchathan, can this be done at the immigration office or outside the country at a consulate?

thanks

This can only be done at the immigration office.

You will need to bring your passport, photo, 1,900 baht, wife. wife's ID card and household registration and marriage certificate.

Permission

I was told at immigration in Khorat that it is limited to one time per entry.

ie if you have had one 60 day extention then you can do a border crossing and then get another one.
