Hey need some Advice!! It may seem like a pretty dumb question but I just want some clarity really.

I have a multiple entry non Immigration visa which allows me to stay in Thailand for 60 days, which I got from the Thai British consulate prior to leaving the UK, its due to expire on the 21st August 2011. However my boyfriend is flying into BKK on the 19th and I want to do my visa run before that so that I don't have the hassle when he is here!,

So I am flying to Singapore having two nights there and then will be back in BKK on the 19th. Does this mean that it will be classed as a new visa entry therefore giving me a further 60days from 19th or will immigration just use the original one, therefore only giving me 3 days before I have to do a visa run again

While looking on the forums though ive seen that you can get an extension with this type of visa for an extra 30 days is that correct?? how easy is it and how much does it cost, and would the reason stated above be a vaild enough reason for immigration to consider that factor.

Any feedback would be great!!

You appear to have a tourist visa if it only provides a 60 day entry and that would only be issued of one, two or three entry (never multi entry). What exactly does the visa say and what is the date stamped on the visa by Consulate?

Once you depart Thailand your visa entry ends and a return would either require a new visa entry or obtaining a re-entry permit prior to departure (for your original allowed departure date).

We need to know for sure what you have.

Firstly, if you have a Non immigrant multiple entry visa then you will get 90days for every entry.

You can exit the country everyday of the week if you wished and get 90days everytime right up to the date the visa expires. Just check the date where it says "Visa must be utilized by......" In your case you will re-enter Thailand on the 19th August and immigration will stamp you in for a further 90days.... Yes it takes you past the expiry date, but the terms of the visa are 90days per entry as long as you enter before expiry. So you will be stamped back in until around 19th November, or thereabouts.

The 30day extension you mention relates to tourist visas only.

If you have a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa you can come and go as you please up to a period of 15 months. Max 90 days each stay.

If you have a Tourist Visa it is a different kettle of fish.

First sentence could be misread. You cannot come any time after 12 months - the visa will have expired. You can come on the last day of the visa's 12 month duration and stay a further 90 days. You can come and go any time you please only for the 12 month duration of the visa.

Ok so not multiple entry!!! The British Thai Consulate visa says that it allows me to stay up to 60 days then leave, go out of the country and come back in! It says on the stamp (from the consulate)that I have up to 3 entries on it. which I have to utilize by the 8th December.

So I arrived the 23rd of June and the immigration stamp says that I have to leave on the 21st August.

My flight out of Thailand is on the 18th August and I have 24 hours in Singapore and then Fly back to BKK. Im just being super organized and probably neurotic.

My understanding is that if I leave the country that first trip is then considered Void and I will then be considered entering Thailand on my 2nd entry! Which will then give me a further 60days Visa.

I think that you are correct on this one!!!! Just wanted to make sure!!! In Australia this is how it happens, but with Thailand I can just assumed that there may be some very strange clause or red tape involved!!! But great advice!

It is up to you but there is no need to leave in August as you can easily obtain a 30 day extension of stay for 1,900 baht from local immigration office to allow stay until mid September. Depending on how long BF will be here if that would fit your plans.

Ok that sounds cool!!! can I obtain this before the visa runs out??? Because I might cancel the flight as It cost twice what you are saying, also I will be in Chaing Mai then so would you know the address of the immigration office up there or I have a day to Kill in BKK so I could head over there now!! thanks for the advice

Normally you extend during the last week of permitted to stay - the 30 days will start from end of stay (not from day you apply - so nothing lost in doing early). In Chiang Mai the Immigration Office is at entrance road to airport so very easy to get there.
